Had L5 S1 fusion anterior and posterior and after 6 wks. I feel great. Still have to be careful for 6 months but totally worth it. He was clear and caring and I would highly recommend him as your surgeon!

Dr. Kamath is amazing! I received a call with the news that I would need head surgery from the most calm voice ever. He explained everything in words that I understood, and was there for me every step of the way. His reassurance and confidence in his work made this challenging journey easy to walk through. Surgery went well and my symptoms have improved. He has great hands as well, I can barely see the scar. Thank you so much for such great care!

Dr. Ashwin Kamath is absolutely incredible! I was diagnosed with a brain tumor on 9/2 and he performed a craniotomy on 9/8 with his amazing partner Dr. Juan Ortega at Dell Seton Medical Center. He explained in detail upcoming procedure with kindness, compassion and warmth - excellent bedside manner. My surgery had no complications - I experienced no pain or deficits my entire hospitalization and post op. I was anticipated to stay for a week but discharged in 3 days. I was able to walk over 1 mile post op day 2 and day 3 around the nursing unit. He is an exceptional Neurosurgeon and I highly recommend him!

ACDF

Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) is a procedure used to treat a herniated disc in the neck. The disc can cause symptoms such as arm pain, numbness, tingling, and loss of hand dexterity.
The procedure involves an incision on one side of the neck. The surgeon uses a natural corridor between the layers of the neck to access the front of the spine. The disc between two vertebrae is removed, and an implant or spacer is placed between them, to encourage the two vertebrae to connect (fuse) as one. The implant is often packed with bone graft, which increases the chance of a successful fusion.
